NBARC
What is NBARC?
NBARC stands for Newton-Brookline Asylum Resettlement Coalition.
NBARC is an interfaith group of six congregations working together to provide community-based support to asylum seekers in Newton and Brookline, Massachusetts.
NBARC is run by a steering committee made up of volunteers from each congregation.
What We Do
NBARC provides, or helps asylum seekers find:
housing
food
clothing
English language instruction
daycare
education / opportunities for community engagement
employment
We work with clients from the time they submit their asylum claim until they obtain work authorization, find employment, and become self supporting.
We place clients with volunteers who welcome asylum seekers into their homes for a limited amount of time.
We give each family a monthly allowance for food and other necessities.
We have helped asylum seekers from many countries. In November 2021 we began working with an Afghan family of 5.
How You Can Help
There are many ways you can contribute to NBARC's success.
Our Funding
We are entirely volunteer-run. All of our funding comes from donations, and 100% of every dollar raised goes directly to supporting our clients.
Please note that credit card donations are subject to a 2.9% commission fee automatically deducted by PayPal.
